Bute House Preparatory School for Girls
Location: Brook Green, London
Year: 2004-2011
Value: £5m
In 1956 Robert Adams’ father designed a new building for Bute House Preparatory School for Girls and ever since then, the school has exclusively come to the Adams family with architectural commissions. We began our current phase of our working relationship in 1994 to ensure the longevity of the school grounds, which continues to the present day.
In 2004 our brief was to demolish the existing single storey music department and administration offices and create a state of the art music and drama centre. We not only achieved the brief requirements but also resolved what was a poor entrance into a stunning entrance courtyard and internal mini atrium in a scale suitable for the diminutive size of the primary school pupils.
